You can’t celebrate pancakes without celebrating Maple Syrup! This week our farmers have been in the Sugar bush, getting the taps ready for the upcoming Sugaring season. Click here to see our video about tapping maple trees.
How often this Farm reminds us it loves us....💗
“The past is behind us — love is in front and all around us.” ~Terri Guillemets
Another beautiful Snow Day!
“Out of the bosom of the Air,
Out of the cloud-folds of her garments shaken,
Over the woodlands brown and bare,
Over the harvest-fields forsaken,
Silent, and soft, and slow
Descends the snow”.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Let your love shine!
Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.”
―Martin Luther King, Jr.
Where are the cows when it snows?
Our cows producing milk reside in the dairy barn, and go outside, in the “cow yard” daily, unless weather conditions make it unsafe. The cow yard is maintained by our amazing farm staff, so it is a safe location for the herd to get fresh air, while the barn is being cleaned.
Suddenly snow!
December 17, 2020, the weather forecast called for 7” of snow. We stopped measuring around noon, when we had 34”! By 4:00 the sun was shining.
Message from the Farm
Although the Farms for City Kids program is currently suspended because of the pandemic, we miss all of you and wanted to reach out in light of recent troubling events. The Farms For City Kids program serves communities of color, and we can’t remain silent on this issue. Please rest assured that the board and staff of Farms For City Kids stand in solidarity with the protest against systemic racism and racial bias.
It is especially hard to imagine what children make of these most difficult times, and we wish we were able to do more to express our support and concern, but rest assured our farm will always remain a safe haven for all.
The farm is not the same without our young visitors and their wonderful teachers. We look forward to better times ahead when we can welcome you all back. On behalf of everyone at Spring Brook Farm Cheese and Farms For City Kids Foundation we wish you a safe and happy summer.
In Peace, rob
