Farms For City Kids and City Kids Adventure Learning Program Applications
Our program typically runs March through November. We are accepting applications for children in grades 4-7, accompanied by two to three teachers and/or chaperones. Parent chaperones and young children of chaperones are discouraged from attending. The maximum number of children is 20 and the minimum is 15. Farms for City Kids Program applications are accepted September through December 31st, you will be contacted in January with your school’s assigned week.
The City Kids Adventure Learning Program is intended for FARM alumni. However, participants are NOT discouraged from attending if they have not participated in the Farm program. Participating students should be between the ages of 12-18. The maximum is 15 students. This program normally runs June through August. An adult chaperone is highly encouraged. The lessons will focus on wilderness skills, yet remain centered around team work, critical thinking skills, independence, and self confidence. These skills will remain valuable throughout their lifetime.
Transportation to and from the farm, is at the expense of the school or group. Compensation for teachers and chaperones at the discretion of the school/group. Teachers who are new to our programs must attend an orientation. The orientation is a required step in securing your week on the farm. Please contact the Education Director for more details.
Scheduling Policy
Every reasonable effort is made to accommodate the desired dates listed on the application. However the number of annual applicants makes it nearly impossible to schedule every school or group that applies. If we are/were unable to schedule your group for the weeks submitted on the application, then you will be notified of any open slots remaining on the schedule. If we are still unable to schedule your school for the current year, then you will receive a preferment in scheduling the next programming year. Schools that applied last year but were left unscheduled will be scheduled first. When listing dates of choice, please be sure to give weeks in three different months that you would be willing to attend. You will receive notification of acceptance by e-mail and/or standard mail. Please be sure to provide accurate e-mail and physical addresses in order to receive notification. We do reserve the right, in the event of scheduling conflicts, to change or cancel the week of attendance.
